The name “garnet” comes from the Latin word “Garanatus,” meaning “seedlike,” in reference to a pomegranate's vividly colored bright red seeds.
Garnets have been mentioned throughout ancient history and religion. Hebrews mentions the stone as one of the twelve gems in Aaron’s breastplate. The Talmud tells the story of how a large Garnet provided the only source of light on Noah's Ark. A blood-red garnet is also considered as a symbol of Christ’s sacrifice and the Koran tells how a garnet illuminates the Fourth Heaven of the Moslems. In Greek mythology, garnet is a symbol of quick return of someone eternally loved in reference to Hades giving Persephonie a pomegranate.
Garnet is a root chakra stone and is said to be excellent for manifestation letting you ground your dreams in reality, bringing abundance, prosperity, and realization of those dreams. It is also associated with the heart chakra and is used to balance, purify, align and remove negative energy from all the chakras and aura.
